Works-For-Me Wednesday: eBay

WfmwheaderToday’s WFMW tip is a quickie–I’m up to my eyeballs in back-to-school events, paperwork, and (of course) last-minute fun.

I’ve been having good bit of fun lately doing some eBay shopping for my daughter.  Have you seen the kind of bargains you can get on gently-worn children’s clothing there (particularly for girls?)  I have to admit my fondness for Baby-Lulu-esque girl clothes, but there is NO WAY I’d pay that Outfit kind of money.  On eBay, you can find bargains on high-end kids’ clothes for pennies on the dollar.  Just today I won the outfit on the right for a SONG.  Could you eat it up?

And while you’re there you can also bid on thisOh-so-very practical.

Alright, so this is a wimpy WFMW, but y’all, I’ve been sharpening so many pencils this week I think my brain has lead poisoning from the fumes.  Please jump in and post more clever links below.  WFMW guidelines can be found here

  1. The preacher's wife says:

Ebay is the best for little girl clothes..I haven’t had so much luck with boy clothes. ‘Gently worn’ and little boys is just not a phrase I trust..:)
Love the outfit you scored! 🙂
    Lisa

  2. Every Chapter says:

Hmmm…thanks, good to know. I’m always needing to get little things, like one more pair of PJ’s, for my son- but I hate to spend the money one something he will grow out of in no time and only waer to bed! I’ll have to try ebay- thanks!

  3. Christine says:

I’m exhausted right now but I will post a tip tomorrow. BTW, darn the luck, Di’s dress is a little out of my budget. I will have to find a different dress for…oh, who am I kidding.

  4. Diatribal says:

Um…unless you are getting those pencils from China, I doubt you have lead poisoning from that! 😉
I think everyone is struggling this week. Enjoy your kiddos while you can!

  5. Karen@FamilyBriefs says:

I LOVE ebay too! Whatever I can’t get at our bi-annual consignment sale, I head to ebay for. My best bargain was a huge box of little boy clothes/shoes that had over $50 items in it. I got it for $47 including s&h. Most everything was in GREAT shape! Keep shopping honey!

  6. Maureen says:

I love me some eBay! I’m always looking for deals on the kid’s clothes there, especially with a ‘tween who’s starting to get into “labels”!

  7. Briggie says:

I like Ebay, my problem is I don’t like waiting…I live in New Jersey, South Jersey that is, and about 10 minutes from where I live there is a place called Plato’s Closet. It’s like a consignment shop, only you get store credit the moment you trade in your clothes. The clothes must be in good condition and clean. They then do a quick steam clean on them, price them and put them on the rack. My youngest is 14 so “name” brands are the rage but who can afford it? I gave her $30 and she came out with 2 Holister tops and 2 pairs of really cute denim shorts! Each item was roughly $6 each.

  8. Jennifer, Snapshot says:

Thanks for the reminder. I have not ever used ebay for clothes, but I used to be a little hooked. Just yesterday I wrote about how using Priceline gives me a similar to thrill to ebay (I published my tips here ).
We have a family wedding coming up in September, so I should really take a look!

  9. Char says:

I too LOVE E-bay, especially when you can get a garbage bag….yes, a garbage bag full of clothes shipped to my house for $35. I had enough clothes to keep my daughter clothed for at least a year with my find.

  10. Heather says:

I loooooove eBay – we buy everything from formula to wedding clothes there (no, seriously – I bought my wedding dress of eBay!). It’s a great way to clothe your little ones, too.

  11. Princess Leia says:

So far we’ve managed with what’s been given to us clothes-wise, but we’re quickly reaching the point at which that will no longer be enough. I’ll have to try eBay when I finally give in and start letting myself buy things for our little man!

  12. SAHMmy Says says:

Love Ebay, but have to wait on buying girl clothes until BabyChubChub is out of the “poop on everything” size! I just can’t deal with the possibility that I’m buying something someone else’s kid pooped on!

  13. Heather L. says:

I love ebay! I’ve never bought clothing on there before, but if the prices are so good I may have to start! Thanks for the tip and for hosting!!

  14. Jen says:

I ADORE Ebay!! I get 90% of my kids clothes there. People always comment on how well-dress they are and I always laugh and say “Ebay! You can do it too!” It also helps when you’ve got girls and want to keep them, um, not too teenager-y. Lots of Gymboree, Hanna Andersson, ect.

  15. LeeAnn says:

Checked out the dress. Definitely not me! I don’t do strapless. I think you got the bargain outfit instead! LOL! I haven’t done eBay for clothes, but for K’nex and school curriculums, it ***rocks***! Amazon’s used retailers are good sources too.

  16. bee says:

I am constantly combing EBAY for the Pepper Toes clothes for the Wog… it’s the Baby Lulu line for boys. I love it!
I’ve gotten some really good deals!

  17. CanadianCarrie says:

I love ebay, I’ve been buying girls and boys ‘The childrens Place” clothes for very excellent prices! You usually end up with some other good brands as well!! I hate paying high retail prices for clothes they will be outgrowing in 6 months anyway!! Nobody knows that I didn’t buy them brand new.. well, except all of you now…
