I have really been looking forward to this edition of WFMW. It was specially requested by several of you. I suspect you’re feeling the same pinch at the grocery store that our family has noticed. Well, and there’s that whole get-me-out-of-the-kitchen-because-it-is-July-and-I-am-hot issue. Either way, fewer ingredients are a good thing.
So for today’s edition, share your best recipes that require five or fewer ingredients, and link up below.
Here are a few of mine:
SWEET FRUIT SALAD
1 20 oz can chunk pineapple (UNDRAINED)
1 small can mandarin oranges (DRAINED)
1 small box of instant vanilla pudding
2 bananas, sliced
optional: any other fruit you can think of
Mix first three ingredients together. Chill for at least an hour. Add in sliced bananas just before serving. Optional: add in any other sliced fruit that sounds good to you. I’ve included grapes, strawberries and apples, and they’re all delicious in this fruity mixture.
CHICKEN CASSEROLE WITH A KICK
1 box of spaghetti (enough to serve 6-8), cooked
1 can of Rotel
2 cups of cheese (sometimes I use cheddar, sometimes Velveeta; whatever suits you)
1 can of cream of mushroom soup
2 cups cooked chicken
Mix all ingredients together and pour into a greased casserole dish. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes, or until cheese is all melted.
EASY ENCHILADAS
3 or 4 cups cooked chicken (or ground beef instead, if you’re feeling cheap)
2 cups grated cheese
8 oz sour cream
8 tortillas
salsa
Mix chicken, cheese and sour cream. Spoon into individual tortilla shells, and roll them up. Place side by side in greased casserole dish. Pour salsa over the top. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes.

I can hardly wait to see what all you come up with on this one. I have a feeling my printer is going to be busy today. If you don’t have a blog, feel free to leave your five-ingredients-or-less recipe in the comments section.
If you do have a blog, leave your link below (guidelines here, if you need them.) Was your link deleted? Click here.

Apparently enchiladas are easy for everyone 🙂
I can’t wait to find new easy recipes. Perfect meals for summertime.
Kim
The enchiladas sound marvelous. My 5-ingredients-or-less ideas are a little unorthodox. What’s new?
Those chicken enchiladas seem quite doable around here!
Sorry I first forgot that it was a recipe week…I made up for it though and posted a great one down the list a bit!
Oh my goodness. I can’t wait to read all these great recipes. Thanks for the subject matter. I know that we will all benefit from the posts this week!!!!
Your recipes look great. Sorry I forgot to add the name of the recipe next to my name so feel free to delete no.59, I repeated it at 63 (sorry if that was the wrong thing to do!)Thanks for WFMW, I love it!
Your recipes look great. Sorry I forgot to add the name of the recipe next to my name so feel free to delete no.59, I repeated it at 63 (sorry if that was the wrong thing to do!)Thanks for WFMW, I love it!
It’s my inaugural contribution to WFMW! I’m so happy to participate.
I will be trying the chicken enchilada recipe.
And now my comments have come out twice – oh dear, not a very good posting day for me! LOL
I like the sounds of that Kickin Chicken – We’ll be trying it out one day soon!
Mmmm…enchiladas! I’ll have to make them again soon!
I’m glad I’m not the only one who forgot to put the name of the recipe in parenthesis by my name(thanks for doing it first, Fiona!). So feel free to delete #64 since I resubmitted it correctly. Thanks!
I’m making that exact fruit salad for Jade’s 1st birthday this weekend…the other ingredient I add is mini marshmallows!
I don’t have a (public) blog, but wanted to share a recipe anyway…I mix two teaspoons each of apricot preserves and French dressing per piece of chicken. I usually use chicken breasts, but anything works. Mix the dressing and preserves, pour over chicken, bake. It’s simple, easy, and delicious–one of my favorite recipes for company. 🙂 Works well served with rice or couscous.
What a great idea, Shannon. I bet some of these recipes are going to show up at a 4th of July picnic!!!
Thanks everyone for participating. My link is in the 70’s this week.
Have a great day!
Kristin
I like your recipes! I didn’t know enchiladas could be that easy.
I can’t wait to check out all the recipes from everybody – this will take a while!!
I am dying to try out these yummy recipes. I don’t even know where to start. Maybe Crock Pot Pork Ribs or Best Chicken BBQ. Make sure you read my Ribbon Pie recipe in the early 100’s. You will love me forever (or hate me for putting this kind of temptation within your grasp!)
This was my first post. I forgot the name of the recipe too!
This is my first WFMW. I posted a simple yet tasty Green Bean Casserole. Trust me, kids love this stuff.
I can’t wait to try some of the other recipes!
Great topic today! I love short and simple recipes! My recipe is for a yummy, creamy orange jello salad.
I participated for my first time ever! Your recipes look great, I’ll give them a try.
I’m a first timer for WFMW… come say hi =)
And, yes, your easy enchildas are hitting our dinner table this week!
Here is the best recipe I know with one three ingredients 🙂
Enjoy!
This ought to be good!!
This has made me hungry. Great blog topic for the week. Who can’t use new recipes.
I have so many easy recipes, but I forget this was recipe week! I did my best. Thanks for your great idea’s.
I know where I will be spending naptime today – perusing! Thanks!!
This is my first WFMW – can’t wait to try all of these out – YUM!!
I’m sure I’ll be going back through these recipes for days. Enjoy your virtual cookbook.
Shannon … thanks for the recipes idea! I can’t wait to try some of them!
Oops, Shannon….I posted on #181, but I accidentally linked to the front page (prior to coffee, you know).
So I reposted at #195 with the correct link. Sorry!
This is a great theme. I’m so excited to read all the recipes! Feeding seven people every night would sure be easier with only 5 ingredients.
Mmmm, yummy, thanks for sharing!
Oooh… that fruit salad sounds fantastic!
All these recipes are looking great- what a great idea for WFMW! 🙂
perhaps a silly question, but in the fruit salad, do you make the pudding before you toss it in, or do you just sprinkle the powder in amongst the fruit?
Shannon – I made a mess of my link – feel free to delete number 178
Elaine
Just made my first WFMW post! Thanks for hosting this-awesome!
Bless you, bless you, bless you – can’t wait to see all the good recipes, heaven knows I’m needing some easy inspiration lately! Thanks for the great idea!
No blog to post this on, but this is our FAVORITE recipe and it’s SOOOOO quick and easy. Seriously, I read a magazine while I made dinner last week. It’s a Martha Stewart one (can you believe it’s quick and easy and you can find all the ingredients in your local grocery store?)…I double the sauce part of the recipe because my husband and I love to smother our chicken and rice in it.
Sauteed Chicken w/ Mustard-Cream Sauce
4 Boneless, skinless chicken breast halves
Salt
Pepper
2 t. Olive oil
Sauce (we double these measurements):
1/4 c. Dry white wine or chicken broth
1/2 c. Heavy cream
2 t. Dijon mustard
1 t. Dried tarragon (or 1 T. chopped fresh)
Sprinkle each chicken breast with 1/4 t. each salt and pepper. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the chicken; saute until cooked through, 10 to 12 minutes, turning once. Transfer to a plate; keep warm.
Pour the wine into the hot skillet; cook, stirring, until reduced by half, about 1 minute. Whisk in the cream, mustard and tarragon. Cook, whisking, until thickened, about 2 minutes.
Pour any accumulated chicken juices into the sauce. Right before serving, drizzle the cream sauce over the sauteed chicken.
Yum! I am definitely trying to shorten my grocery list since my checking account isn’t stretching any farther! I put up several of my favorites that we actually make all the time! It’s an old post; I’m so green I’m recylcing it. 🙂
I have starred this post in Google Reader, as I will DEFINITELY be coming back to try many of these recipes!
All of those sound yummy! Going to add them to my “try something new” list!
Thanks for hosting! 🙂
Sorry, Shannon! I failed to note the WFMW theme before adding mine. My bad! Please delete my linky and I’ll save it for next time.
Thanks!
This is the best idea for a post! This is my first WFMW – hope you’ll find my crockpot recipe easy! Especially for summer!
What a fun WFMW!! Can’t wait to come back and read them all…I am in desperate need of dinnertime inspiration!
Goodness!!! Where do I start?
Thank you, Ladies!
Ahhhh…Rotel. A southerner’s best friend! Haven’t eaten anything with Rotel in it since we moved from Oklahoma nearly 20 years ago!
Great theme! I’m excited to try some new recipes.
I was going to leave my Apricot Chicken recipe in my comment but saw something very similar already published! If I think of another “keeper,” I’ll be back. Thanks for all the great ideas!!

i don’t have a blog – but most of my recipes are under 5 ingredients! my favorite is Chicken Pie:
1 box of ready made pie crusts (2 per box but that only counts as 1 ingredient right?)
1 lb (or 1 can) of chicken cubed
1 can vegall
1 can cream of ckn soup
1 tbsp sour cream
mix ingredients in bowl, line a pie pan with 1 of the crust, fill with mixture, top with 2nd pie crust. bake on 350 for 30 minutes.
I’m definitely trying your recipes. They look delicious. Most of the recipes I use are 5 ingredients or less. I don’t like to spend time cooking and we do easy stuff most nights.
I’m so not a “rules” girl so I used my 5 ingredients a little differently.
I don’t have any recipes to contribute, but I know I will be reading others. I just posted yesterday about needing new recipes. Thanks!
This is my first attempt at participating in WFMW. Hope I didn’t make any Blogging Etiquette Faux Paux! Getting out of the kitchen quick is always my goal and I love new recipes.
Love WFMW’s, my first post too, excellent topic!
Great edition this week. Thanks for doing this, Shannon!
Easy Cheesey Cheese Ball Recipe is great for any kind of get together or just to eat entirely yourself!
Thanks so much for doing this WFMW! I can’t wait to try some of these 5 ingredient or less recipes! I put 4 or 5 on my website. Come on over and check them out. 🙂
Veggie Tuna Couscous
1 box of Near East Tomato Lentil Couscous
1 large can tuna
1 bag frozen mixed vegetables
Microwave veggies in something you can serve from, as it will be your main dish. Prepare couscous according to directions (boil water, oil and spices, dump couscous in, put lid on for five minutes off heat – done!) Once couscous is finished, stir in the tuna until thoroughly mixed. Drain water from veggies, and mix everything together. Done! My boys like it with ragu, I eat it plain, it’s good with a number of dressings you could choose.
Usually there are enough leftovers for next day’s lunch if I make it with two boxes of couscous. Enjoy!
Yummy! Great idea for a theme!
I think my husband would love the chicken casserole with a kick. I can’t wait to see what other recipes I find. This theme was a great idea.
I’m a first timer!!! What a wonderful idea this was. And how fun! I am too excited to go through all of these great recipes. Thanks so much!!
YUMMY!
This is a great idea!
I can’t wait to check out what everyone submitted. Simple recipes work best for me!
This is a great great collection of short recipes… I love it. I’m going to try the enchiladas.
I did the mexi-chicken salad and Rainy from the same site did this completely sinful pie…
Can’t wait to try some of these!
I can’t wait to check out all these recipes!!!
I’m going to have to buy more paper! These are great recipes!
I can’t wait to get home from vacation to read all these recipes!
Mine isn’t a five ingredient recipe… but it does include five different ingredients! Check out the Top 5 Cheap Kids’ Snacks for Summer Vacation at Homemaker Barbi. Have a great week.

That fruit salad sounds delicious!
I sure wish my family liked enchiladas–I know I do! Sounds yummy!
The chicken casserole sounds delish! Thanks for sharing 🙂
The easiest Chinese recipe you’ll ever eat:
CASHEW CHICKEN
Clean and chop 5-6 stalks of celery into bite-size pieces.
Cube 2 chicken breasts.
Pull out a wok or large skillet, and heat over med-hi. Add a tablespoon of sesame oil and let that get hot.
Toss in about a cup of raw cashew pieces, stirring constantly to get them toasting.
When they’re toasty, toss in the chicken. Cook til just cooked through–don’t worry about gunk starting to stick to the bottom, just keep stirring it.
Toss in the celery, and stir-fry until it’s tender-crisp, and letting off some juice.
Blop on about 1 Tbsp of hoisin sauce, and stir to blend it around.
Serve over sticky rice.
It takes about 15 minutes, start to finish, and hits all the major cravings–crunchy, tender, sweet, spicy, salty. YUM.
I was so surprised to find that all my favorite recipes had more than five ingredients. I guess I make the same things over-and-over-and-over and don’t even notice! I ended up using one of our favorite cookie recipes–very quick and very frugal!
Awesome, awesome idea … wish I had known about this sooner to participate. Thank you. I’m always more prone to doing these easy recipes … why don’t more magazines and cookbooks use less ingredients?!
THANKS so much for doing this! I can’t wait to try ALL these new recipes!
I can’t wait to try some of these!
I can hardly wait to go through all the recipes and save many to try. I am just getting into menu planning and this will help me a lot.
Thanks so much
Diane
All 3 of your recipes sound great… we’ll definitely be trying them soon.

I can’t wait to try some of these recipes. They sound divine…except the frog legs. I won’t be trying that one anytime soon 🙂
I wasn’t going to post this today, but I just love this tip! And I wrote it and even put a pic in it – which is amaaaazing for me! And then I come – and it’s not a general WFMW (altho this one is perfect!) So I posted anyway. 🙂
Rebelly yours,
Cathy
Thanks for the “Chicken Casserole with a Kick” recipe. I will give this one a try soon and gladly return for more.

Oh, how fun! I posted the most delicious dip ever. I got in a major fight with my MIL for posting it, so hopefully it will be worth it!!
Karen A’s Chocolate Dump Cake (No Eggs)
1 (5 oz) non instant chocolate pudding
2 1/3 cups milk
1 package devil’s food cake mix
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
Heat oven to 350. Lightly grease one 9 X 13 pan. Mix choc pudding and milk in a saucepan and cook over medium heat until thick, stirring frequently. Remove pan from heat and add dry cake mix. Mix together and pour into 9 X 13 pan. Evenly spread choc chips over the top. Bake for 40-45 minutes.

Baked Sausage and Potatoes
1 pound Italian sausages, halved lengthwise, & then crosswise 1 lb. Potatoes — halved or quartered, depending on the size of the potato (fingerlings are the best but any small white tuber will do)
1 small onion, chopped
2 garlic cloves, sliced very thin
3 Tbsp olive oil
Heat oven to 450. In a Dutch oven or baking dish, mix all together and bake for 30 minutes. With a spoon, mix it again then return to oven for 10-15 more minutes – until the potatoes are done.
I think this is my first WFMW post! I really like this theme, and have enjoyed browsing the recipes. Thanks everyone!
This is kinda like that thing where you go to church and are pretty sure the pastor’s been eavesdropping on your life. I have literally brought my printer and scrap paper downstairs so I can get to printing some of these great ideas.
Thanks to all the WFMWers, you are all charming and well-dressed.
I’m super excited about all these recipes. I have a feeling I’ll be coming back to this post time and again. Any chance you’ll bind and sell a bloggy cookbook from all your printouts?
thanks! i made your chicken spaghetti stuff for dinner tonight! it was great and i actually had all the stuff to make it.
Thanks for some great recipes!
All of the recipes sound great!
Something strange happened and all the recipes are missing now. Do you know what happened?
Is it just me, or is Linky all funky? I’m seeing posts from the winter giveaway carnival.
What gives? (Nothing, all the contests are over. 🙂 )
I can only see winter giveaway links too. SHANNON help – I’m dying to see the recipes and we are going on holiday tomorrow. Do you mean I’ll have to wait a WEEK to check this out now!!!!!!!!
Cheers, Wilm in NZ

Where did the recipes go?
Darn it! This was my first WFMW and I added my link incorrectly! LOL. I’m such a dork. Anyway…my recipe was for Veggie Pizza Squares (mmm…so good!) Here’s the direct link if you want to try them. I cook like a retarted gerbil, so if I can do it anyone can!!!

Love the chicken with a kick. Thanks! You are now in my bookmarks’ list. I have been bored with dinner for months and you are helping me get out of the slump.
Blessings,
Nancy
I really like this edition of WFMW. These recipes are so doable…
Wow I have never participated in this and I am amazed at the amount of people who responded to 5 ingredients or less. It will take me a week to look at all of the tasty sounding ones.
