You’ll Be the Most Popular Girl at the Baby Shower

A few weeks ago, I was visiting my brother and his family in Missouri, and I had the chance to meet one of their friends, a delightful woman named Heather.  It turns out she’s another one of these creative, entrepreneurial women that fascinate me so (Please? Can I be one when I grow up?)

Blessednest2Heather’s company is called Blessed Nest.  She makes Nesting Pillows for nursing moms, entirely organic and filled with, of all things, organic buckwheat hulls.  (Here’s where I try to act all green and pretend like I know what that means.  I don’t.  But I think it sounds lovely.)  I tried one out (I mean, I didn’t actually nurse with it, of course, but I got it all nicely positioned and wondered where in the world this product was when I was nursing babies).  Because of the buckwheat, the pillow forms perfectly to the body of both mother and baby, and it makes a delightful, soothing, crinkly sound that you just don’t get with synthetic stuffing.

BlessednestWhat is especially cool is that Heather’s pillows are so comfortable and form-fitting that’s she having customers come back to buy pillows for other purposes.  Video gamers (really!) love it for propping up their elbows.  Bloggers love it as a perfect platform for their laptop (no more burned legs).  And older kids love it as a comfy sleeping aid.  The product has been such a hit that she has made a smaller version (called the Nest Egg), still handy for nursing, but useful for a dozen other things as well.  Heather takes hers on airplanes!

Best of all is Heather’s business model–she loves moms and babies, and this entire venture is a labor of love.  Her clever product is blessing people left and right.

Blessednest3As she was telling me all this, I pushed her into a corner and begged graciously asked her if she’d let me give one away here.  She one-upped me, offering to give a lucky reader TWO of the smaller Nest Eggs (retail value of $42 each, for a total of $84).  You can keep one, and use it one of its myriad ways, and give one away at the next baby shower you attend.  That momma will love you.

In order to win, simply visit Blessed Nest and look around at all the fabrics (all organic!) they offer for their pillows.  My favorite is Kaleidoscope!  Come back here and leave a comment saying which fabric you’d pick, if you won.  I’ll draw a random winner this Friday.  Anyone is eligible to win, no matter where you live.

For a mind-boggling giveaway extravaganza, visit Bloggy Giveaways this week.  It’s the quarterly carnival, and there is some free stuff floating around like crazy over there.

I love jungle boogie if it comes in the nest egg. Such a great invention! I would have loved this during my nursing years!

  2. rebecca says:

Wren is beautiful. If it has to be on an egg though, I like morning glory quite well too. I have used different breastfeeding things, the boppy, breastfriend, etc. They are cool, but I have to admit I am intrigued by the buckwheat.

  3. Shawna says:

I love the to the moon and back fabric best. These are amazing. Where in Missouri is this lady? I am near KC. If she was close, and if I ever get pregnant again, I might just go pick one of those up.

  4. Christy says:

What a wonderful product! Things have gotten so much cuter even in the three years since having my last baby. If I won I would choose the Kaleidoscope pattern. Thanks for a great giveaway!

  5. Erica says:

My favorite is To the Moon and Back. These are great; thanks for introducing us to them (and to the many uses I probably wouldn’t have though of myself; I say this as my computer is rather warm on my bare legs…).

  6. Heather says:

I love the mingle! That’s one of my favorite fabrics and I have looked high and low for it at fabric stores here because I want to make a skirt for my daughter with it. That is way off topic but there ya go.

  7. Lynnet says:

Nesting Pillow Jungle Boogie Candy is my favorite! Where was this when I had my babies! I know a special someone that is expecting and would love to give one of these to her.

  8. Merrie says:

Oh, I love those! I have a buckwheat thingy pillow that I love, but this is a great idea! My favorite color is the red/valentine one….

  9. Jamie (Ohbecareful!) says:

Personally, I like the Pixie Sticks print. I would love to give one to a woman in our church who is somewhere around 28 weeks along — and on bed rest. She might get some use out of a pillow like this now, and of course it would come in handy when her little one arrives.
Anyway great product! Gotta love creative moms with vision. πŸ™‚

  10. Lora says:

This woman is a genius!! Where were these when I was nursing? The kaleidoscope is my favorite, but I really liked wild child too!

  11. Stretch Mark Mama says:

I TOTALLY don’t need that really cool product but just wanted to say…
I was at a baby shower for FIVE HOURS the other day. All that socializing and babyizing and girlyizing WORE ME OUT.
    Whew.
Couldn’t say that on my social networking sites for fear of discovery.
    That’s all.

  12. Jenny says:

Those are really neat! I have already put a buckwheat pillow on my Christmas list. I think I like the Organic Nest Egg best in Morning Glory. Thanks for sharing the site!

  13. tumblinafter says:

I also love “To the Moon and Back” – these are such a fabulous idea, one to pass on for sure. Thank you!

  14. charlotte says:

Oh I love these! I am nursing my third baby, and the boppy just isn’t working for me. I hope I win!!! I love to the moon and back- it’s blue- for my boy πŸ™‚ Thank you for sharing!

  15. A&EMom says:

Oh my goodness, those are so beautiful it almost makes me want to lactate! Almost.
I love Pixie Sticks, but the eggs aren’t hatched in that fabric, so I’ll choose To The Moon And Back because it sounds like a great ride!

  16. Tammy Elrod says:

I loke the kaleidoscope, but my favorite is wild child. I wish these had been around when I nursed my kids!

  17. Jana (sidetrack'd) says:

I would love, love, love to have one of these pillows! I wanted one so bad with baby #2, but just didn’t have the funds at the time. Mingle is my favorite fabric, but it is the same pattern as my BabyHawk, so I would probably have to go with To the Moon and Back.
Thanks for such an awesome giveaway!

  18. avtcoach says:

I like to the moon and back…actually I liked them all! Very cool prints. I am new to your blog and I am an OK blogger as well! So glad to find you!

  19. Jessi says:

What a great idea! I love the Kaleidoscope pattern. I will definitely consider Heather’s Nesting Pillows for my next baby…other nursing pillows have never worked for me because they were too “stuffy”.

  20. Paige says:

to the moon and back!!! so pretty, and buckwheat is sooo comfy, I’m sure for nursing it would beat the socks off my boppy! πŸ™‚

  21. Michelle (CraftySpice) says:

I would pick To the Moon and Back in the Nest Egg. I love the blue and brown together. Thanks for introducing us to these products.

  22. Rachel says:

I’m really into white….and I must have one. Several people at church are toting babies around and with me it’s contagious. I must have a baby….and a totally awesome pillow.

  23. Mary Kay says:

Jungle boogie is my favorite…but maybe because I like the sound of it! πŸ™‚
    What a wonderful product!

  24. Cherissa says:

Ummm….. yes, I need this. What a great product and company!! I really like the kaleidoscope, too. or To the Moon and Back. Truthfully, I would love ANY of them! Did I mention that I need this? And I would LOVE IT??!!?
Thank you, Blessed Nest, for the great giveaway!

  25. Andrea says:

I love the pixy sticks pattern. I wish these had been around when I nursed my four babies! But I love the idea for a laptop rest!

  26. Lisa says:

To the Moon and Back is my favorite for more than one reason! What a great item! I wish I would have had something like that with my first baby.

  27. Cheryl says:

I think I like the kaleidoscope best also, but mingle is awfully nice as well. Almost makes me want to have another baby to try it myself!!

  28. becky taylor says:

i love partridge!!!! i wish that i had this product when i was nursing my first, but there are more to come so for my next baby this will definitely be on my wish list!

  29. Shannon says:

    Pixie Sticks is adorable!
I would love to win this as my 2nd baby is due to be born in March and I would find many uses for this!! πŸ™‚

  30. becky taylor says:

i love partridge!!!! i wish that i had this product when i was nursing my first, but there are more to come so for my next baby this will definitely be on my wish list!

  31. Jennifer Casey says:

Kaleidoscope & To The Moon & Back are both adorable. This preggo momma would love to try one of these!

  32. Laurie says:

I love the Harmony Aqua. It just looks so serene. I’m thinking these would work so much better than the boppy. I had one, but it never fit me very well, and I tried different sizes.

  33. Angie says:

Oooh kaleidoscope is just gorgeous. Maybe I will get one for my second little baby! It seems like just the perfect thing for breastfeeding!

  34. Renee says:

Pick Me!! Pick Me!! (I love that opening on the Shrek DVD when Donkey is jumping up and down!!!) I love this idea. So many uses and it sounds just lovely. My favorite fabric is Wren. LOVED IT!!! So if I were ever so lucky, that is the one I would choose. Rodks in my Dryer–YOU ROCK!!! Renee

  35. Sudee in Florida says:

I pick the Kaleidoscope, but wish the Nest Egg came in the Wild Child. Love me some animal print on everything.

  36. Sarah says:

Totally kaleideoscope or mingle (or the one with multi colored dots, I couldn’t find the name). I’m nursing my baby as I type.

  37. Robin says:

I like the kaleidoscope best – it looks great and that pattern would definitely hide dirt LOL.
Can it be warmed in the microwave?

  38. Sara says:

I like mingle the best. Too bad I just finished nursing my 3rd and final! But I have lots of pregnant friends!

  39. stacy says:

It’s “to the moon and back” for me. I think I might be lactating, which is impossible since I haven’t nursed since June but oh how that pillow makes me miss it.

  40. Leslee says:

Those are awesome! Oh, I hope I win! I have a baby shower in 2 weeks!
To the moon and back is my fave.
    Leslee

  41. Frances says:

That wonderful sounding nursing pillow is on my baby gift registry. Although To the Moon and Back is a close second, I do like kaleidoscope best as well.

  42. Pat says:

I like To the moom and back, because of the color combo and because that’s what I say to my little one everynight.

  43. Melissa says:

They are so nice. I love the “To the Moon and Back”. I know this wouldn’t make sense unless you looked at it, but I love Winnie the Pooh and that pattern just had a Hundred Acre feel to it.

  44. Amy says:

Morning Glory is so wonderful! We have them growing in our yard – planted by my oldest son. We never cease to be amazed that they open with the morning light and softly close when the day is through.

  45. Caryl says:

I just love the Harmony Morning Glory. I’m a sucker for anything Pink/purple!! I wish these had been around when I was nursing my six kids!

  46. Linda says:

I without a doubt love Morning Glory… which would be perfect if the little one I am carrying is the girl everyone seems to be cheering for (even my 2 boys!)

  47. Princess Leia says:

I’m due in late December with friends who are due in November, January, February (3!), March, and May! My little alien is jumping around just at the thought of not having to wait for mommy to get the faux-boppy correctly positioned before s/he gets to eat (not to mention not having the possibility of sliding off of the faux-boppy and bed onto a comforter on the floor like his/her older brother! (Yay for un-made beds!)).
My favorite print is Rocket Babies, but since we’re talking about Nest Eggs, I guess I’d say Kaleidoscope.

  48. T with Honey says:

If I win I would pick Harmony Morning Glory and give it to my cousin who is due with her first baby in December. That print would go perfectly with the decor she picked for the nursery!

  49. Carrie H says:

Pick me! Pick me! I also love the Kaleidoscope…and am pregnant with #3. I’ve never had a special pillow for nursing but would LOVE to have one for this baby!
    Thanks!

  50. Hopefulmom says:

I loved Wild Child…and I would LOVE to have one of these. In fact, I’m going to a baby shower in 2 weeks. What a unique and perfect gift this would be!

  51. Julie says:

I really like the print of the nesting pillow w/baby having tummy time (dots and circles) but couldn’t find a name. My next choice would be To the Moon and Back.

  52. Bethany Cantrell says:

Way too cute. My favorite is the Sweetheart pattern. Love your blog! And I’m not just saying that so you’ll pick me!

  53. Heather says:

I’d LOVE to win one in Kaleidoscope!
And seeing as I’m another Heather from MO, it would be “appropriate”. Right?! πŸ˜‰

  54. rosanne says:

I would love a chance to win – please sign me up! πŸ™‚ I like “To the Moon and Back!” I’m due in Feb…so perfect if I win! Thanks for the opportunity! πŸ™‚ (rosanne@banik.com)

  55. Dawn G. says:

I really like the kaleidoscope pattern. This is a really neat giveaway. Thank you for what you do for others.

  56. Sarah W says:

I would so love this. I nurse my babies, and we plan to have at least two more! How perfect.
I like the partridge print and the pixy sticks. Both are so cute that it was hard to decide πŸ™‚

  57. Patti says:

Sweetheart, because I would give it to my DD, who is just a sweetheart and almost as sweet as her Daddy………..Thanks for the giveaway

  58. Ang says:

I like the kaleidoscope print best because it would be a gift for my sister who is expecting, and she would like that one.
For myself, I’d probably go with morning glory because it’s a dark color and won’t show stains as much. But I like to the moon and back as well!

  59. Saucy Momma says:

I like jungle boogie candy. What a great idea. Would have been great when I was preggo and nursing. I still think it would be lovely as a side sleeper pillow!

  60. Alexis says:

I love “To the Moon and Back”! These look like great products – more form fitting than the stuffing in a boppy – and travel-size would be GREAT.
Thanks for the chance to win! πŸ™‚

  61. Jessie says:

I love the Wren. My friend is due with her 1st any day now and we are welcoming our 3rd in March – fabulous gifts for both of us! How nice of both of you to offer this contest, take care and thank you so much!

  62. Tanya Moyer says:

I love Morning Glory! I have a ton of pregnant friends, so these would be great gifts! Great giveaway – thanks for offering!
    ~Tanya
    the4moyers(at)msn(dot)com

  63. Allison says:

I’m liking the Jungle Boogie… but would probably like Pixie Stix or something softer for a nursery. πŸ™‚

  64. Christine says:

“To the moon and back” is my favorite! This is probably TMI but when I was pregnant my sis told me sleep on your side with a small pillow between your knees and it will relieve some of the pressure on your back. I did, it did, I loved it.
And I still do. And my pillow is as ragged as a 4-year-old’s lovee. But I can’t seem to sleep any other way!
So I really like the Nest Egg in moon-and-back…not to mention it’ll match my new bedding! The Egg and I were meant to be!
    See? TMI…

  65. Rebekah says:

Wow! I’m still nursing my little girl, and this would be GRRRREAT, since she hangs off my lap while we nurse, she could easily fit her body on the pillow! How cool! I like to the moon and back!

  66. Beth says:

What a great idea! My current (not being used–but hopefully soon?) nursing pillow is too tall for my short body. These seem like they would accommodate a shorter torso. I like the Mingle fabric.

  67. Emmilee says:

I’d go for the mingle print–super cute.
Do I get an extra entry for being due with number 2 in 3 weeks? And I gave away the boppy a year ago πŸ˜›

  68. Kelly G says:

I really like Pixie Stix. I have a 4 month old and would love to try these out while nursing. It would also make a great gift for a friend of mine who is due in December.

  69. jennielynn says:

I’m not sure which I’d pick. Either the To The Moon And Back or the Kaleidoscope. These look wonderful and I think they would be perfect for my dad!

  70. Valerie says:

I couldn’t decide between two–To The Moon and Back and Jungle Boogie. . . but I guess probably To the Moon and Back.
Thanks for hosting a great giveaway.

  71. Heather says:

Wow! They are all so beautiful, but my favorite is the jungle boogie candy. My first child (little girl) is due in early December. These look amazing!

  72. Bailey's Leaf says:

I love “To the moon and back.” Oh who would I give this to? Um, my sister because what she thought was the beginnings of menopause at 38 is actually PREGNANCY!

  73. Valerie says:

I like the morning glory pattern.
I love that there are people (Mama’s!) out there that are so creative.

  74. Crystal says:

I’d love to have this for my sister, who just had her first baby while serving as a missionary in Swaziland. I think she would like either the nest egg in Jungle boogie (if it comes in that) or else To The Moon & Back. They have nothing over there and she nurses on the floor of her place!! They are returning to the states soon, and I can’t wait to pamper her…
    Thanks for doing this!

  75. Dineen says:

I would pick the Kaleidoscope pattern if I won. It’s actually the most clear photo of them all, so the easiest to see.
I wish I had had the Nest when I was first starting nursing, but I can see using the Nest Egg for extra bits of support for my nursing toddler here and there.

  76. Heidi says:

Pixie sticks print – and my baby is getting heavy so I need something to use while nursing him. πŸ™‚ Thanks for the chance to win!

  77. Katherine says:

ooh — I could so use one of these. right. now. My arm is asleep (but, thankfully, so is the baby!) πŸ™‚

  78. Diane says:

Jungle boogie is just adorable! I’m saving this site…currently nursing and would LOVE to have one of these!

  79. Stacy says:

Oh, I like the Kaleidoscope, too. Very cute. With all these comments, it’s not likely I’ll be chosen, but I’m hopeful! πŸ™‚
    ~Stacy

  80. Noel Harmer says:

I love sweetheart and wild child, i may have to try one of those even though my baby is almost 4– they look comfy.

  81. TwoWishes says:

Love “To the Moon and Back” (our poor little girl is going to be surrounded by blue — it’s just such a nice color!). Thanks for the fabulous giveaway.

  82. Laura says:

Tough choice! She has some nice fabrics I haven’t seen before. I think my favorite would be Partridge. Thanks for a wonderful giveaway!!

  83. LeAnna says:

I love To The Moon & Back – I’m due in January, and have a friend due in March, so this would be awesome!

  84. Jamie says:

I love the sweetheart pattern. I am thinking these would be great for after being squished from my torture-treatment mammogram. They turned into slinkies after my mammogram and I’m thinking this pillow would be great for sleeping to give them the support they need.

  85. Candace says:

I think its a tie between Partridge and To the moon and back. These would definitely make you most popular at a shower!

  86. Anne from Faraway says:

Hello, although I am done nursing those pillows look great and usefull for people with neck pain like me. It was hard to choose between To The Moon And Back and Kaleidoscope, but I think I would choose To The Moon. Have a good day and God bless you. By the way thanks for your blog and all the nice and usefull things you post. It is great to read you.

  87. Amy says:

It’s hard to decide, but I think I like Morning Glory best. Even if I don’t win one, I will probably end up buying one someday!

  88. Ella MacDonald says:

i love the kaleidoscope as well. i’m due in february with my 4th, and that would be oh, so helpful!! thanks for doing this!

  89. Michele P. says:

I really like the versatile use these pillows have, and enjoyed reading your review. My fave, because it can be used for both boys and girls is the Kaleidoscope-but I love the Morning Glory print too!
    micaela6955 at msn dot com

  90. Laura says:

Oh how pretty. I love “Wren”! But since we’re talking the Nest Eggs, I would pick “Morning Glory”. Thanks for the link. I may have to pick one up even if I don’t win! My preggo belly needs a comfy pillow.

  91. lindsey says:

Wow – great item! I would love to have one of these for my upcoming nurser.
I love the Jungle Boogie print and the To the Moon and Back print.

  92. Johnna says:

I like “to the moon and back”. It is what I say to my little one when I lay him down, that I love him right up to the moon and back.
I would love to try out this product, thanks!

  93. Heather says:

I love these – and really could have used one when I had my babies, but could so use one when I blog with the lap top – love the Wild print…brings out the animal in me!

  94. Laurel says:

My favorite fabric is the Sweetheart, but in the nest egg, I like the simplicity of the lilly white. I hope I win because I’m due to have my little baby girl in 6 weeks and that looks like a wonderful product.

  95. Shannon says:

Wow – these are awesome. With baby #2 due in 7 weeks I’d love to try this out (tried the boppy with DD-only used once, too bulky for me). I love the Morning Glory one. What a great giveaway – that’s so much!!
    -Shannon

  96. Linda says:

Really liked many of them. Pixie Sticks and the wren pattern would be my choices – My daughter is due in 3 weeks and is breast feeding so this would be fabulous!!!

  97. Laura Reich says:

I think the pixy sticks is my favorite, but it’s hard to pick out of all those choices.. They’re so cute!

  98. colleen says:

this looks so easy to use and comfortable. i love both he partridge and Kaleidoscope. But all the fabrics are nice.

  99. Angela says:

I love Jungle Boogie. I didn’t see it on a nest egg, so if I won, I’d pick To The Moon and Back. Thanks for the giveaway!

  100. Mika says:

Cool…my mom needs a new pillow. The other one had been through like…5 kids? and is falling apart. She’d like the new nursing pillow.

  101. liz says:

I love the purple one. Harmony morning glory. I just love purple. I would love to try this out. My boppy that I use now just isn’t a perfect fit.

  102. Jessica says:

I’d choose To the Moon and Back. I’d love to win this, and would start using it asap. I wish I’d seen the site a few months ago. I could have used the belly support for sure. πŸ™‚
    Thanks for hosting this.

  103. Bethany says:

I wish that I had this with my first 3, maybe now I can have one for #4. I would like: To The Moon & Back. Thank you
